Mettrick Quarter Horses LLC and MQH Kennel, established in 1976,
are owned and operated by Jon and Pamela Mettrick. Jon teaches Psychology at the local University; Pamela is in charge of daily operations around the ranch and kennel.
Married for twenty-six years we share the love of animals. Together we have participated in breeding, raising, and training animals and their handlers for showing at a national level. Producing many Champions, canine, equine, and equestrienne. The involvement has also extended into movie, TV, and commercial work

MQH Kennel and Mettrick Quarter Horses were introduced to the Patterdale, the "elite working terrier," in the mid 1980's. Our first Patterdale Terrier was bred by Patti Holt who was importing the breed early in it's introduction to America. Sired by Nuttall's Ricky and out of Nuttall's Raven, the little black Patterdale was more than we expected, cleaning our ranch and Navel orange grove of numerous types of vermin. Her courage and tenacity did not go unnoticed. After the loss of this fine terrier in a hunting accident, we immediately contacted Mr. Brian Nuttall for more Patterdale Terriers.
MQH Kennel was already established as a top breeder of Champion English Mastiffs,
having bred MCOA National Specialty Class Winners, Best In Sweeps, Third In Stud Dog, and Best Puppy In Show, as well as MCOA Health Awards.
The purchase of Nuttall's MQH Josie and Nuttall's MQH Desiree', initiated our Patterdale Terrier breeding program. The Patterdale Terrier Club of America was founded a few years later. As Patterdale enthusiasts, we we immediately joined.
Our family quickly found that our ranch and our life style would not be complete without Patterdale Terriers.
As breeders of Patterdale Terriers, MQH Kennel has received a Certificate of Achievement and four of our dogs have gained the title of PTCA "Hall of Fame."
To our knowledge we have bred at least nine PTCA and UKC Patterdale Terrier Champions and there may be many more!
MQH Patterdale Terriers is a proud sponsor of the PTCA National Show and Hunt. The PTCA has graciously named a Perpetual Trophy for the Veterans Title after one of our greatest Patterdales, "Desiree."
